The Santa Special trains at the Midland Railway – Butterley are one of the most popular events operated by the railway, with the 2017 season being one of the most successful, and we are used to unusual requests.
These include children asking for whole lists of presents and Santa being given dummies from younger children so that they will receive their presents on Christmas Day.
However this season’s trains saw a very unusual request when Troy Stafford used the family’s visit to Santa’s rail borne grotto to propose to Tracey Rangeley.
Luckily for all on board the train Tracey accepted.
Alan Calladine the Midland Railway Trust Development Officer said, “This was a very pleasant surprise for Santa and all his helpers. We wish Tracey and Troy all the best for the future and hope that Santa gave them a great Christmas.”
