The Midland Railway – Butterley will be running trains every day over the half term holiday of the 17th to the 25th February as well as every weekend until 25th March.
As a special offer every passenger can enjoy a free hot drink to keep the winter chills at bay.
Over the winter the railway will be using heritage Diesel Multiple Units. These trains allow visitors to have a Driver’s eye view of the track and even see the driver at work. They also allow a much more frequent service.
The Railway Museum, and Country Park will be open, weather permitting, as will the Demonstration Signal Box, Victorian Railwayman’s Church and the Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust West Shed. In the West Shed there will be children’s craft activities including the very popular “make a junk model train”. All this can be explored by getting of the train at Swanwick Junction and returning by a later train.
The shop at Butterley Station is also having a sale with some substantial reductions.
Alan Calladine the Midland Railway Trust Development Officer said “We run trains throughout the year with a range of special events. The Winter Warmer Trains are a chance to enjoy the railway at a quieter time of the year, and enjoy a hot drink in our Station Buffet as well as a train ride and the chance to pick up a bargain book.”
The Winter Warmer Trains will run from 1100 am to 2.50pm every day from 17th to the 25th February.
