Butterley Brick Week 26th May – 3rd June 2018

Details

This event has now passed.

Does your family love LEGO® Bricks? If so, this is the event for you!

Combining amazing LEGO® brick models with a trip on a heritage train – a great full day out for the whole family.

Over 40 amazing models will be on display and will take you on a journey through pivotal moments in world history:

  • key figures from Mozart to Martin Luther King;
  • scientific discoveries from the Big Bang to DNA;
  • recent history from mobile phones to the moon landings;
  • and so much more.

Plus on the 26th and 27th May, for the first two days of Butterley Brick Week, brick technicians will LIVE BUILD a giant model of the iconic Kirtley steam loco. For a small donation you too can add a brick to the LIVE BUILD. Once completed, this model will be on display until the exhibition closes on 3rd June.

And when you have seen the model, view the real thing in the museum at Swanwick Junction.

These stunning LEGO® brick models are brought to you by Warren Ellsmore, a renowned LEGO® brick artist who has produced stunning exhibitions worldwide, and his team.

Children can also join in by building their own model of a locomotive from a LEGO® bricks kit, exclusive to the Midland Railway – Butterley. (Additional charge of £5 per model, which is theirs to keep.)

Additionally on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday, special workshops where children can build and program models using LEGO® bricks will be brought to you by JuniorSTEM. (Additional charge of £5 per child and spaces strictly limited.)

Plus all of the usual attractions will be open at Swanwick Junction and for children there is a Find Billy the Brick competition.

To book tickets in advance, check out your preferred date on the calendar.

We recommend that you arrive in time to catch a morning train from Butterley and certainly no later than 2pm (1.25pm on both Saturdays) if you wish to take part in the JuniorSTEM workshop.
