Enjoy an amazing trip behind A1 Peppercorn Pacific 60163 “Tornado”. Experience the sights, sounds, smells and power of this iconic locomotive.
This will be a great day out for all of the family and remember PARKING IS FREE.
“Tornado” was the first steam locomotive to be built in the UK for almost half a century. Completed in 2008, it reached 100mph on the mainline in April 2017, again a first in 50 years. It has also featured in “Paddington 2”, so it is sure to be a hit with children of all ages.
Your ticket will be valid for one full line, timed trip behind “Tornado” but will also include unlimited all day travel on the heritage Diesel Multiple Unit services in operation. This will enable you to access all of the attractions at the Midland Railway – Butterley as well as some good photographic locations to get some great shots of “Tornado” in action.
PLEASE NOTE: To board the train for your journey behind “Tornado” you must be on Butterley Station Platform by 2.50pm at the latest. If you intend to explore the attractions at Swanwick Junction using the DMU services before your trip behind “Tornado”, then you must catch the 2.15pm DMU departure from Swanwick Junction to Butterley.
You can buy tickets in advance by scrolling down this page. Tickets purchased in advance are cheaper than those available on the day, so why not take advantage of this saving. Please make sure that you order free tickets for children under 5 to reserve their seats.
* No vouchers or discounts are valid for this event.
* Changes to ticket bookings will be subject to an administration charge of £5.
