After a major overhaul Standard Tank 80080, a BR steam locomotive, is returning to haul passenger trains.  She will shortly be moving to another heritage railway, so do not miss out on this opportunity to travel behind her.

So, if you are looking for a day out, then the Midland Railway – Butterley might just be the place you are looking for!

Experience the way travel used to be with a train ride through the wonderful Derbyshire countryside.

Enjoy a warming hot drink in Butterley Tea Room or Johnson’s Buffet – FREE with every train ticket. Plus there will be opportunities to indulge yourself with a tempting treat.  Special Children’s lunch deals are also available.

Trains depart from Butterley at:  11.00am, 12.20pm, 2.00pm & 3.20pm.

Get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the Matthew Kirtley Building (Railway Museum), Demonstration Signal Box, Victorian Railwayman’s Church, the West Shed and the Country Park. Other attractions may also be open.  (Please note that this is not possible on the 3.20pm departure.)

Trains return from Swanwick Junction at:  11.50am, 1.10pm, 2.50pm & 4.00pm.
