From March to October, the Midland Railway-Butterley holds a series of courses, where a maximum of 6 participants can learn how to operate and control a steam locomotive. As well as helping to prepare the locomotive, there is also the opportunity to crew the locomotive on our ‘main line’. Also included is a guided tour around our impressive unique museum collection. Lunch will be provided and participants receive complimentary membership of the Midland Railway Trust for a full year.
The courses are operated in accordance with guidelines laid down by The Office of Road and Rail and participants must be over 18 years of age, as well as being moderately fit to be able to take part. An information pack is available from Butterley Station, you can download an application form or use the contact form.
