St. Saviour's Church

A Victorian “Tin Tabernacle” Church

This Victorian “Tin Tabernacle” Church is a haven of peace and tranquility and is open for visitors to enjoy. Originally provided for railwaymen and their families, it is now used for meetings and occasional religious services, including wedding blessings (although not the actual marriage ceremony for legal reasons), funerals and memorial services.

Historical note: This Church from 1898, and built with support from the Midland Railway Company, was originally located in Westhouses in Derbyshire, a village that grew up around the company’s locomotive shed there.
