Leaving Butterley Station you will experience the way we used to travel with a train ride through the wonderful Derbyshire countryside on one of the Midland Railway – Butterley’s heritage Diesel Multiple Units. These trains have really large windows and so there is an excellent view all round. Plus you can see into the cab and see the driver in action, as well as the track ahead.
Trains depart from Butterley at: 11.00am, 11.50am, 12.40pm, 2.00pm, 2.50pm & 3.45pm
Visitors arriving for the 3:45pm departure will not be able to explore the museum complex at Swanwick Junction. We recommend arriving at Butterley no later than 2:50pm if you wish to look round at Swanwick Junction.
Get off the train at Swanwick Junction for the Dinosaurs and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the:
- Demonstration Signal Box
- Victorian Railwayman’s, St Saviour’s Church
- Golden Valley Light Railway (separate charge to travel)
- Children’s Play area
