Join us today as we operate one of our Diesel locos on heritage mark 1 carriages in “Blood and Custard “ livery and experience the way travel used to be with a train ride through the wonderful Derbyshire countryside.


Trains Depart From Butterley At: 11.00am,12.25pm, 2.00pm & 3.20pm

Get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the Demonstration Signal Box, Victorian Railwayman’s Church, the West Shed , GVLR, stationary power building, diesel shed, road transport building and the Country Park.

The Matthew Kirtley Building (Museum Exhibition) and area around it is currently closed to visitors.

Trains return from Swanwick Junction at:  11.45am, 1.15pm, 2.45pm & 4.00pm.

Today’s Train Fares

Parking at Butterley Station is FREE.
