If you are looking for a day out this winter, then the Midland Railway – Butterley might just be the place you are looking for!

Experience the way travel used to be with a train ride through the wonderful Derbyshire countryside on one of the Midland Railway – Butterley’s heritage Diesel Multiple Units. These trains have really large windows and so there is an excellent view all round. Plus you can see into the cab and see the driver in action, as well as the track ahead.

Trains depart from Butterley at:  11.00am, 11.50am, 12.40pm, 2.00pm & 2.50pm.

Enjoy a warming hot drink in Butterley Tea Room – FREE with every train ticket. Plus there will be opportunities to indulge yourself with a tempting treat.

You can also take advantage of a SALE in the shop at Butterley, offering genuine reductions on many items.

Get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the Matthew Kirtley Building (Railway Museum), Demonstration Signal Box, Victorian Railwayman’s Church and the Country Park.* Other attractions may also be open.

Trains return from Swanwick Junction at:  11.35am, 12.25pm, 1.25pm, 2.45pm, 3.35pm & 4.00pm.

* Please note: In poor weather conditions it might not be possible to open some of these attractions and in extreme weather Swanwick Junction may be completely closed to visitors.
