Halloween at the Midland Railway – Butterley.
Heritage trains operate for the Derbyshire schools’ autumn half term holiday.
On arrival at Butterley you will find a specially decorated Booking Hall in the Station – enter if you dare! This is your gateway to:
- Wizard Competition
- Railway Museum – The West Shed
- Victorian Railwayman’s Church
- Demonstration Signal Box
- Shops & Buffets

Trains depart from Butterley at: 11.00am, 11.50am, 12.40pm, 2.00pm, 2.50pm & 3.45pm
Get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the Demonstration Signal Box, Victorian Railwayman’s Church, the West Shed and the Country Park. Other attractions may also be open.
The Matthew Kirtley Building (Railway Museum) is temporarily closed.
Trains return from Swanwick Junction at: 11.35am, 12.25pm, 1.15pm, 2.35pm, 3.25pm & 4.00pm.
Today’s trains will be a heritage Diesel Multiple Unit, with large windows offering great views of the Derbyshire countryside and also a view of the driver in action.
