Experience the way travel used to be with a train ride through the wonderful Derbyshire countryside on one of the Midland Railway – Butterley’s heritage Diesel Multiple Units. These trains have really large windows and so there is an excellent view all round. Plus you can see into the cab and see the driver in action, as well as the track ahead.
Trains depart from Butterley at: 11.00am, 11.50am, 12.40pm, 2.00pm, 2.50pm & 3.45pm
Get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the Demonstration Signal Box, Victorian Railwayman’s Church and the Country Park. Other attractions may also be open.
We have a small exhibition of royal memorabilia in Swanwick station. This will range from original coronation items to more modern royals on trains.
Deeley’s tea room will be serving cream scones and will be decorated in bunting flags.
Trains return from Swanwick Junction at: 11.35am, 12.25pm, 1.15pm, 2.35pm, 3.25pm & 4.00pm.
