Details

Start: 18/06/2022 End: 19/06/2022 Timetable: Special Timetable
This event has now passed.

The two-day DMU weekend on June 18-19 will feature the entry into traffic for the first time in preservation of Class 142 unit 142011, which has been restored to its 1984 livery of Provincial Blue.

Three trains will be in service and these will include the only working Class 141, which, like the Class 142, was built at the Leyland National factory in Workington which is itself celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Also appearing will be a Derby-built Class 108 which is now some 62 years old.
It is hoped to run the Class 141 and the 142 in multiple each morning in a formation that has not been seen since the mid-1990s, while during the afternoon the units will run independently.

On display at Butterley will be the sole-remaining Gloucester Class 100 unit, dating from 1957, which is undergoing long-term restoration. Representatives from the restoring team will be on hand to show visitors the ongoing work.
Also on display will be examples of Derby built Class 114 and 127, showing the different variations of units built during the 1950s and 1960s.

Get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the Demonstration Signal Box, Victorian Railwayman’s Church and the Country Park. Other attractions may also be open.
