Halloween at the Midland Railway – Butterley is a very ‘spooktacular’ affair. Heritage trains operate for the Derbyshire schools’ autumn half term holiday.

On arrival at Butterley you will find a specially decorated Booking Hall in the Station – enter if you dare!   This is your gateway to:

  • Wizard Competition
  • Railway Museum
  • West Shed Experience with spooky crafts
  • Victorian Railwayman’s Church
  • Demonstration Signal Box
  • Shops & Buffets

Over the half term, Spooktacular treat boxes are available from Deeley’s Tearoom and Butterley Buffet. Containing toasted or cold sandwich, chocolate mini roll, jelly squeeze, monster munch, haribo trick or treat and fruit shoot, all for just £5!

Trains depart from Butterley Station at: 11am, 11.50am, 12.40pm, 2pm, 2.45pm & 3.45pm

Get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the Matthew Kirtley Building (Railway Museum), Demonstration Signal Box, Victorian Railwayman’s Church, the West Shed and the Country Park. Other attractions may also be open.

Trains return from Swanwick Junction at:  11.35am, 12.25pm, 1.15pm, 2.35pm, 3.25pm & 4.00pm.
