This painting by David Weston of a Midland Railway “Spinner” No. 118 4-2-0 Locomotive was commissioned specifically for the fledgling Midland Railway Trust by its then Chairman, latterly President, John Twells MBE. It depicts the locomotive piloting a train. The actual locomotive is preserved in the National Collection at York Railway Museum as No. 673. For a time the locomotive was based at Butterley and returned to steam for the Rainhill 150 Anniversary.
