- Check the Calendar to see what’s on. This will guide you to the relevant timetable and whether there is a special event.
- Look at the timetable for the day you are planning to visit. Try not to arrive just after a train has departed or for the last train only. We recommend around 3 hours for your visit.
- Opening times are normally 9.30am – 4.30pm but are extended for some special events. We recommend arriving after 10am when the first train is 11am.
- Have a look at the “A Great Day Out” section of this website and follow the links to find out more about the attractions. This will give you a good idea of what there is to see and do.
- Allow time to get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore. There’s loads to see and do and then catch a later train back.
- Choose sensible footwear – some of our paths are not surfaced.
- Bring pushchairs for small children – there is a lot of walking at Swanwick Junction. Push chairs normally travel in the Guard’s van on the train, so usually they do not need to be collapsed.
- Disabled Visitors – please check our dedicated page regarding accessibility and contact us if you need more help or advice.
- Don’t leave the dog at home. They are very welcome, but please keep them on a lead. Please note that they require a train ticket (£1) and that they are not allowed in some buildings or catering outlets.
- Contact us if you’ve got a particular question that you need answering to help you plan your visit.
