The Midland Railway Trust is delighted to announce that the famous newly built steam locomotive “Tornado” will be paying a special visit to the Midland Railway – Butterley over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd April.
This new steam locomotive was built in 2008 and was designed specifically to haul special main line trains. It was designed as a traditional steam locomotive but incorporating a number of modern developments to improve its performance. Over the last 10 years “Tornado” has performed with spectacular results proving the skills of the team that designed and built the locomotive. This is the first time that “Tornado” has visited the Midland Railway – Butterley.
As this weekend will be very popular the railway has launched advanced booking facilities on their website – www.midland railway-butterley.co.uk. There are a limited number of tickets available and anyone interested in visiting over this weekend is recommended to book as soon as possible to be sure of their ticket.
