A mixture of steam and diesel locomotives from the 1960’s will be in operation over this weekend, hauling railway carriages of the period. You can travel on the trains all day if you wish, but there’s more to see both at Swanwick Junction and at Butterley, so why not get off the train and explore?

The Golden Valley Light Railway will be operating an intensive passenger service and demonstration freight trains, using as many narrow gauge diesel locomotives as possible. It is hoped that the newly restored covered carriage from the Ffestiniog Railway in Wales will be in service for the first time, as well as the former Ashover Light Railway carriage.
The Garden Railway will be celebrating the joy of model railways in the open air. A joy for old and young alike. Might you be inspired to build your own?
On Sunday the sensational sounds of the 60s will be re-created by The Rapids, playing live for your enjoyment. Rock along to the music that changed the world. They will be performing in the the Church at Swanwick Junction between 13:00 – 13:45 and 15:00 – 15:45.
The Road Rally on Sunday at Swanwick Junction will provide an amazing display of in the region of 80 “classic” vehicles, ranging from motor cycles to double decker buses and everything in between.
Plus all of the usual attractions will be open.
