“If you go down to the woods today……” well not the woods exactly, in fact your big surprise is actually at the Midland Railway – Butterley! You will be greeted by the larger than life Butterley Bear and there will be special Teddy Bears’ displays around the railway, featuring bears of all shapes and sizes.
There is a themed children’s competition and as a special offer, any child brought in by their own Teddy Bear will be able to travel free of charge.
New for this year we have story telling on the platform by local author Gareth Baker. Times will be advertised on arrival.
Trains depart from Butterley at: 11.00am, 12.25pm, 2.00pm & 3.20pm
Visitors arriving for the 3:20pm departure will not be able to explore the museum complex at Swanwick Junction. We recommend arriving at Butterley no later than 2:00pm if you wish to look round at Swanwick Junction.
Get off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore the Museum Complex, where you will be able to visit the:
- Demonstration Signal Box
- Victorian Railwayman’s, St Saviour’s Church
- Golden Valley Light Railway (separate charge to travel)
- Children’s Play area
- Country Park
- Stationary Power building
- Road Transport building
- West Shed Experience
Trains return from Swanwick Junction at: 11.45am, 1.15pm, 2.45pm & 4.00pm.
