Looking for a fun day out this Easter?
The Midland Railway – Butterley might be just the place! Put your wits to the test with our Easter Egg Trail and enjoy a cracking day out for the whole family.

From Good Friday, 3rd April to Easter Monday, 6th April, hop on board our special Butterley Easter Steam Train at Butterley Station for an egg-cellent adventure. Travel to Swanwick Junction, where children can enjoy hopping around the MR-B while following the Easter Egg Trail — and don’t forget to keep an eye out for our Easter Bunny!

Trains depart Butterley station at:- 11:00, 12:15, 14:00 & 15:15

Hop off the train at Swanwick Junction and explore our historical site, packed with things to see and do for all ages.

Discover the Victorian Railwayman’s Church, step back in time in the West Shed Experience, and explore the Road Transport BuildingStationary Power House & Golden Valley Light Railway. Younger visitors can let off steam in the kids’ play area, while families can enjoy a stroll around the Country Park.

Other buildings may also be open on the day, all subject to volunteer availability.

Deeley’s Tearooms at Swanwick Junction will also be open, serving a selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice creams, and sandwiches — perfect for a relaxing break during your visit.

All travelling children will receive a gift from the Easter Bunny, while adults can relax with a complimentary hot drink in Deeley’s Tea Room

Parking, Accessibility, Tickets and Timetables

Free Parking and entrance are at Butterley station. Swanwick Junction Station is not accessible with vehicles. On Sunday and Monday, a vintage bus will be operating around the Swanwick Junction site, helping visitors move easily between the various attractions.
