1980s Weekend

Details

Start: 13/06/2026 End: 14/06/2026 Timetable: Special Timetable

Join us as we step back to the 1980s at the Midland Railway – Butterley on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June.

Visitors will arrive at Butterley Station and travel to the Swanwick Junction site aboard an iconic train from the 1980s, setting the scene for a weekend of retro railway nostalgia.

At Swanwick Junction, enjoy a full programme of 80s-themed entertainment, including a retro arcade featuring classic games of the era, an 80s disco, and a nostalgic movie trailer and adverts show in the Church.

In addition, don’t miss a special display of models from the classic 1980s television series Tugs — a real treat for fans young and old.

Traction for the weekend:- We are working on it…

A wide range of other attractions will be open at Swanwick Junction, including the children’s play area, Victorian Railwayman’s Church, West Shed, stationary power exhibits, road transport displays, Forklift Museum, Diesel Shed, Butterley Park Miniature Railway, Golden Valley Light Railway, and the surrounding Country Park.

Fancy dress in 80s attire is encouraged – dust off the leg warmers, shell suits, and shoulder pads!
