Ahoy and Welcome to the Pirate & Princess Adventure

Join us this weekend as we operate BR Class 45108 hauling our classic Mk 1 carriages, and experience the way rail travel used to be. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a nostalgic journey through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.

Meet and greet pirates and princesses when trains arrive back from Ironville with characters in Swanwick Junction station!

Programme of Activities

Our Pirates & Princesses will be bringing the magic to life throughout the day with a packed programme of interactive entertainment.

Join in with lively singalong performances, colourful ribbon dancing, fun-filled mini games and learn some swashbuckling pirate and princess party dances. Throughout the day you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to meet your favourite characters as they roam the site, stopping for photos and magical meet-and-greets at Butterley Station, the beach and The Green.

Activities take place at our ‘beach’ and out front of the station building throughout the day, so there’s always something to see and do as you explore the railway.
