New for 2024, The Midland Railway – Butterley is hosting ‘Ale on the Rails’ A mixed traction event with Diesel and Steam alongside a visiting loco from DB Cargo UK.
We are delighted to welcome Tom Said Micropub, a local micro brewery who will be serving a great selection of local brewed cask and keg beers from the likes of Pentrich Brewing Co, Alter Ego Brewing Co, RedDog Ales and Ashover Brewery. We’ll also have Gin from Dancing Anchor Spirits as well as other spirits, wine and cider.
Butterley Station will have a converted horsebox bar, with plenty more beers down at Swanwick Junction.
DB Cargo have kindly provided a Class 66 number 66654 (66149). This is a rare opportunity to ride behind one of these 3,200 Horse Power, 127 Tonne locomotives.
43025 from 125 Group will be on the other end of the train.
16440 LMS Jinty will be in Steam and working on the MK 1 carriages with D4 Great Gable.
Deeley’s Tearoom will be open at Swanwick Junction Station serving for hot and cold drinks, Ice Creams, Sandwiches and snacks.
Explore the Complex at Swanwick Junction, where you will be able to visit the children’s play area, Victorian Railwayman’s Church, the West Shed and the Country Park. Other attractions may also be open.
