Enjoy a fun-filled summer day out for the whole family as we run a steam train following Timetable A, providing plenty of sights, sounds and smells that steam fans of all ages will love.
Step aboard our Heritage Mk1 carriages and relax together as you travel in comfort – the perfect place to sit back, spot the scenery and enjoy quality family time. Whether you’re introducing little ones to steam for the first time or reliving fond railway memories, it’s a great adventure for all generations.
This weekend we’re also hosting our Teddy Bears’ Picnic! Bring your favourite teddy bear along and take part in our Teddy Bear Trail around the site. Pick up an activity sheet, search for hidden bears and see how many you can find during your visit.
After your train journey, make sure you visit our popular beach area at Swanwick Junction. Bring a bucket and spade (we sell them if you forget!), build sandcastles, enjoy an ice cream and let little ones play while their teddy enjoys a summer day out too.
At Swanwick Junction explore our heritage site, packed with things to see and do for all ages. Discover the Victorian Railwayman’s Church, step back in time in the West Shed Experience, and explore the Road Transport Building, Stationary Power House and Golden Valley Light Railway.
Younger visitors can enjoy the play area, hunt for teddy bears around the site, spend time on the beach and explore the Country Park with family and friends.
Not brought a picnic? No problem…Deeley’s Tearooms will be open throughout the day, serving a selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches and ice creams – perfect for a summer treat during your visit.
All Teddy Bears’ Picnic activities are included with normal admission and train travel tickets.
Please note: Free Parking and entrance are at Butterley station. Swanwick Junction Station is not accessible with vehicles
